The job
The brief was parking that drains, stays firm through the wet season and can be built on later if the owners decide to. Gravel does all three at a fraction of the cost of concrete.
The ground was cleared, levelled and compacted, then a geotextile membrane went down to stop the stone working its way into the ground below, which is the step most cheap gravel jobs skip and the reason they turn to mud within a year. Crusher run was tipped, spread and rolled.
The same preparation is the base for a house, shop or extension, so nothing done here is wasted if the land is developed.
