The job
Three previous fit-outs had been built on top of one another, each one hiding the last. The strip-out took four weeks on its own and was done by hand where it ran close to the original fabric.
The roof truss was in better condition than expected — two rafters and a section of wall plate needed splicing, and the rest was cleaned and treated in place.
New services were routed through the later fabric rather than chased into the original brick, which keeps the intervention reversible and avoids cutting through a wall that is also the structure.
